QR Code Not Working

Troubleshoot scanning and access problems with QR codes.

Scanning Issues

QR Code Won’t Scan

Check these in order:

  1. Code size - Minimum 1” x 1”
  2. Code quality - Not damaged, faded, or dirty
  3. Lighting - Well-lit, no glare
  4. Phone camera - Working properly
  5. Distance - Not too close or far

Fix:

  • Print larger if too small
  • Replace damaged codes
  • Improve lighting
  • Clean code surface
  • Try different distance

Camera Doesn’t Recognize Code

Cause: Phone may not have built-in scanner.

Fix:

  1. Try default camera app
  2. Look for QR option in camera settings
  3. Download QR scanner app
  4. Try different phone

Scans But Wrong URL

Cause: Old or incorrect QR code.

Fix:

  1. Generate new QR code from dashboard
  2. Print and replace old codes
  3. Verify code links to correct menu

Scans But Page Won’t Load

Causes:

  • Internet connection issue
  • Server problem
  • Browser issue

Fix:

  1. Check internet connection
  2. Try WiFi vs. cellular
  3. Try different browser
  4. Wait and retry

Access Issues

Causes:

  • Restaurant deleted
  • URL changed
  • QR code corrupted

Fix:

  1. Verify restaurant exists
  2. Generate fresh QR code
  3. Replace all printed codes

”Restaurant Unavailable”

Causes:

  • Restaurant unpublished
  • Account issue
  • Technical problem

Fix:

  1. Check restaurant is published
  2. Verify account status
  3. Contact support if persists

Redirects to Wrong Page

Cause: QR code links to wrong URL.

Fix:

  1. Delete the QR code
  2. Create new one
  3. Test before printing
  4. Replace printed codes

Display Issues

Causes:

  • Old cached version
  • Browser compatibility
  • Screen size issue

Fix:

  1. Refresh the page
  2. Clear browser cache
  3. Try different browser
  4. Report persistent issues

Causes:

  • Slow connection
  • Large menu
  • Browser memory

Fix:

  1. Wait for full load
  2. Try stronger connection
  3. Close other apps/tabs
  4. Refresh page

Images Not Loading

Causes:

  • Slow connection
  • Image storage issue
  • Browser blocking

Fix:

  1. Wait longer
  2. Refresh page
  3. Check browser settings
  4. Report if persistent

Physical QR Code Issues

Code Fading

Cause: Sun exposure, wear.

Fix:

  1. Replace with fresh print
  2. Laminate future codes
  3. Position away from direct sun

Code Damaged

Cause: Physical damage, spills.

Fix:

  1. Replace immediately
  2. Use protective materials
  3. Keep spare codes ready

Code Peeling/Curling

Cause: Humidity, poor adhesive.

Fix:

  1. Replace with new print
  2. Use better paper stock
  3. Consider plastic holders

Testing Your Codes

Before Deploying

  1. Print one code
  2. Scan with multiple phones
  3. Verify correct menu loads
  4. Check all features work

Regular Testing

Weekly:

  • Scan each code location
  • Verify working properly
  • Note any issues

After Changes

After menu updates:

  • QR codes don’t need replacing
  • Content updates automatically
  • But test to confirm

Multi-Location Issues

Wrong Location Menu

Cause: QR code for different location.

Fix:

  1. Verify each location has own codes
  2. Label codes clearly
  3. Replace mixed-up codes

All Codes Same Menu

If intentional: Working correctly.

If not intentional:

  1. Create location-specific codes
  2. Generate for each location
  3. Deploy to correct locations

Analytics Not Working

Scans Not Counting

Causes:

  • Code not from Atlee
  • Analytics lag
  • Technical issue

Fix:

  1. Verify code generated from dashboard
  2. Wait 24 hours for analytics
  3. Contact support if zero scans after known use

Wrong Scan Count

If too low:

  • Some scanners don’t trigger count
  • Analytics may lag

If too high:

  • Multiple scans per visit counted
  • Bots may be scanning

Quick Replacement

  1. Go to QR Code
  2. Download your code
  3. Print
  4. Replace old code

Track Replacements

To track new vs. old:

  1. Create new named code

  3. See which performs better
