Location-Specific Items
Manage items that are available at specific locations versus all locations.
Understanding Item Scope
Global Items
Available at all locations:
- Appear on every location’s menu
- Single source of truth
- Edit once, update everywhere
Best for:
- Core menu items
- Standard offerings
- Brand-wide dishes
Location-Specific Items
Available at one location only:
- Appear only at assigned location
- Independent from other locations
- Location can have unique offerings
Best for:
- Local specials
- Location-exclusive items
- Test items
- Regional variations

Managing Multiple Locations
Same Menu Everywhere
If all locations have identical menus:
- Make all items global
- Edit once, updates everywhere
- Simpler management
Different Menus Per Location
If each location has unique menu:
- Make items location-specific
- Manage each location’s items separately
- More work, more flexibility
Hybrid Approach
Mix of both:
- Core items are global
- Specials are location-specific
- Balance consistency and flexibility

- Same name, different ingredients
- Each location has its own version
Allergens Across Locations

- Change once, updates all locations
- Consistent allergen information
Location-Specific Allergens
Each location’s items have own allergens:
- Can differ by location
- Useful for regional variations
- Manage separately

Best Practices
When to Use Global
- Standard menu items
- Brand signatures
- Items that must be consistent
- Things you don’t want to manage separately
When to Use Location-Specific
- Local specials
- Regional dishes
- Test items
- Seasonal offerings at specific locations
Naming Conventions
For similar items at different locations:
- Global: “Signature Burger”
- Location: “Downtown Special Burger” or “Airport Quick Bite”
Avoid confusion between similar items.
Common Questions
Can I have different prices per location? Currently, pricing is set per item. For different prices, create location-specific items.
What happens if I delete a location? Location-specific items can be converted to global or deleted.
Can an item be at multiple (but not all) locations? Not currently. Items are either global or single-location. For partial availability, use multiple location-specific items.
How do combos work with location items? Combos can include global and location-specific items. The combo inherits the most restrictive scope.
