Menu Not Showing

Diagnose and fix issues when your menu isn’t visible to diners.

Diagnostic Checklist

Go through each check in order:

1. Is Your Restaurant Published?

Check:

  1. Go to Settings > General
  2. Look for Published toggle
  3. Ensure it’s ON (green)

Fix: Toggle it ON and save.

2. Are Menu Items Published?

Check:

  1. Go to Menus > Items
  2. Look at the Status column
  3. Items should show “Published”

Fix:

  1. Select items in Draft status
  2. Use bulk action Change Status
  3. Select Published

3. Is the Menu Itself Published?

Check:

  1. Go to Menus
  2. Check menu status
  3. Should be Published, not Draft

Fix:

  1. Click on the menu
  2. Change status to Published
  3. Save

4. Are Items Assigned to Menu Sections?

Check:

  1. Go to Menus
  2. Open your menu
  3. Verify items are in sections

Fix:

  • Drag items into sections
  • Or assign via item edit

5. Is the QR Code Correct?

Check:

  1. Scan your QR code
  2. Verify it goes to your menu
  3. Not someone else’s or old URL

Fix:

  1. Generate new QR code
  2. Print and replace old one

Specific Issues

Causes:

  • No published items
  • Items not assigned to sections
  • Filter hiding all items

Fix:

  1. Publish items
  2. Assign to sections
  3. Clear any active filters

Wrong Menu Showing

Causes:

  • Default menu incorrect
  • QR code links to wrong menu
  • Multiple menus confusion

Fix:

  1. Set correct default menu
  2. Verify QR code destination
  3. Check menu assignment

Causes:

  • All items are Draft
  • Items filtered out
  • Section collapsed

Fix:

  1. Publish items
  2. Check diner’s filter settings
  3. Verify section has items

”Restaurant Not Found” Error

Causes:

  • Restaurant deleted
  • URL incorrect
  • Account issue

Fix:

  1. Verify restaurant exists in dashboard
  2. Check URL for typos
  3. Contact support if persistent

Partial Menu Showing

Causes:

  • Some items unpublished
  • Category not on menu
  • Section deleted

Fix:

  1. Verify all desired items are published
  2. Check menu structure
  3. Re-add sections if needed

Public View Testing

Test Your Menu

  1. Go to QR Code
  2. Click Preview Menu
  3. See what diners see

Open in New Browser

For accurate testing:

  1. Open incognito/private window
  2. Enter your menu URL
  3. See exactly what diners see

Test on Mobile

Most diners use mobile:

  1. Scan QR code with phone
  2. Verify display
  3. Test allergen filters

Cache Issues

Browser Cache

If changes aren’t showing:

  1. Hard refresh (Ctrl+F5 / Cmd+Shift+R)
  2. Clear browser cache
  3. Try different browser

Server Cache

Changes may take 1-2 minutes to propagate:

  1. Wait a few minutes
  2. Refresh the page
  3. Test again

Common Mistakes

Recently Changed Status

Items just changed to Published may need a moment:

  • Wait 1 minute
  • Refresh menu

Wrong Location Selected

For multi-location:

  • Check location selector
  • Verify items exist at that location

Accidental Filter

Check if you filtered items:

  • Look for active filters
  • Clear all filters
  • Refresh

When to Contact Support

Contact support if:

  • All checks pass but menu still hidden
  • Error messages appear
  • Issue persists more than 10 minutes

  • What you see
  • What you expect
