Allergen Settings
Configure which allergens to track and how allergen information is displayed.
Accessing Settings
- Navigate to Allergens > Settings
- Configure tracking and display options
- Click Save to apply changes
Tracked Allergens
FDA Big 9 (Always Enabled)
These allergens are always tracked:
- Milk - Dairy products
- Eggs - Egg and egg products
- Fish - Finned fish
- Shellfish - Crustaceans
- Tree Nuts - Almonds, walnuts, etc.
- Peanuts - Peanuts and peanut products
- Wheat - Wheat and wheat products
- Soybeans - Soy and soy products
- Sesame - Sesame and sesame products
Additional Allergens (Optional)
Enable or disable tracking for:

| Gluten | Wheat, barley, rye proteins |
| Mustard | Mustard seeds and products |
| Celery | Celery and celeriac |
| Lupin | Lupin flour and seeds |
| Mollusks | Clams, mussels, oysters |
| Sulfites | Preservatives in wine, dried fruits |
| Alcohol | Beer, wine, spirits |
Enabling Additional Allergens
- Find the allergen in the list
- Toggle the switch to ON
- Click Save
Once enabled:
- Allergen appears on all item edit forms
- Added to verification queue for existing items
- Shown in public allergen filters
Disabling Allergens
- Toggle the switch to OFF
- Click Save
When disabled:
- Allergen hidden from edit forms
- Hidden from public filters
- Existing data preserved (re-enable to see it)
Display Settings
Public Menu Display
Configure how diners see allergen information:

| Show Unconfirmed | Yes (with warning) or No |

Dashboard Display
Configure allergen display in your dashboard:

Reset Options
Reset All Allergens
Clear all allergen data to start fresh:
- Navigate to Allergens > Settings
- Scroll to Reset Options
- Click Reset All Allergens
- Type your restaurant name to confirm
- Click Reset
This will:
- Set all allergens to Unconfirmed
- Clear all verification history
- Cannot be undone
Use when:
- Major menu overhaul
- New management taking over
- Complete re-verification needed
Reset Single Allergen
Reset one allergen across all items:
- Find the allergen in settings
- Click the reset icon
- Confirm the reset
All items will show this allergen as Unconfirmed.
Notification Settings
Configure allergen-related notifications:
| Notification | Description |
|---|---|
| New Flag Alert | Email when diner flags an item |
| Queue Threshold | Email when queue exceeds N items |
| Verification Reminder | Weekly reminder if queue has items |
| Flag Response | Email when flag is resolved |
Setting Up Notifications
- Go to Allergens > Settings > Notifications
- Toggle each notification type
- Enter email addresses for each
- Click Save
Import/Export
Export Allergen Data
Download your allergen data as CSV:
- Click Export Allergen Data
- Choose format (CSV or JSON)
- Download the file
Export includes:
- All items
- All allergen statuses
- Verification dates
- Notes
Import Allergen Data
Upload allergen data from CSV:
- Click Import Allergen Data
- Select your CSV file
- Map columns to allergens
- Preview changes
- Click Import
CSV format:
item_name,milk,eggs,wheat,peanuts,...
Burger,contains,unconfirmed,contains,safe,...Values: contains, safe, unconfirmed
Best Practices
Choosing What to Track
- Start with Big 9 - Required and most common
- Add based on menu - Track what’s relevant to your cuisine
- Consider your region - Some areas require more allergens
- Ask your diners - What do they need to know?
Maintaining Settings
- Review quarterly - Are tracked allergens still relevant?
- Update seasonally - Seasonal menus may need different allergens
- Train on changes - Staff should know when tracking changes
Display Recommendations
For most restaurants:
- Badge Style: Both icons and text
- Color Coding: Red and Green
- Show Unconfirmed: Yes, with clear warning
- Allergen List: Below item for clarity
