Menu Items Overview
Menu items are the core of your Atlee menu. This guide covers creating, editing, and managing individual items.
Creating an Item
From the Items Page
- Navigate to Menus > Items
- Click New Item in the top right
- Fill in the item details
- Click Save
Item Fields
| Field | Required | Description |

| Name | Yes | The item name displayed to diners |
| Description | No | Brief description of the item |
| Price | No | Price in dollars (e.g., 12.99) |
| Category | No | Section where the item appears |
| Ingredients | No | Comma-separated list of ingredients |
| Status | Yes | Published, Draft, or Archived |
Adding Ingredients
Enter ingredients as a comma-separated list:

- Automatic allergen suggestions
- Better search results
- Derived allergens for combos and variants
Setting Allergens
After adding ingredients, configure allergen status:
- Scroll to the Allergens section
- For each tracked allergen, select one of:
- Contains (red) - Item contains this allergen
- Safe (green) - Verified safe for this allergen
- Unconfirmed (gray) - Status unknown

Editing an Item
Quick Edit
- Click on any item row in the table
- The edit panel slides open from the right
- Make your changes
- Click Save
Editing Multiple Fields
The edit panel has tabs for different aspects:
- Details - Name, description, price, category
- Ingredients - Ingredient list management
- Allergens - Allergen status for each tracked allergen
- Variants - Size/option configurations (if applicable)
- Tags - Custom organizational labels
Changing Item Status
To publish, unpublish, or archive an item:
- Open the item edit panel
- Find the Status dropdown
- Select the new status
- Click Save
Status meanings:
- Published - Visible to diners on your public menu
- Draft - Hidden from diners, visible in dashboard
- Archived - Hidden from both dashboard and public menu
Item Actions
Duplicate
Create a copy of an existing item:
- Click the three-dot menu (⋮) on the item row
- Select Duplicate
- A copy is created with “(Copy)” appended
- The duplicate is set to Draft status
- Edit and publish when ready
Duplicating copies:
- Name and description
- Price
- Ingredients
- Allergen settings
- Tags (except system tags)
- Variants (with independent settings)
Delete
Remove an item permanently:
- Click the three-dot menu (⋮)
- Select Delete
- If the item is used elsewhere, you’ll see a warning
- Confirm to delete
Usage warnings appear when the item is:
- Used as a variant option in another item
- Included as a combo component
- Part of a combo choice group
Deleting will remove the item from all these places.
Filtering and Sorting
Table Filters
Use the filter controls above the table:

| Tags | Include items with selected tags |
| Exclude Tags | Hide items with selected tags |
| Search | Text search on name and description |
Sorting
Click column headers to sort:
- Name - Alphabetical order
- Price - Low to high or high to low
- Status - Grouped by status
Bulk Selection
Select multiple items for bulk actions:
- Click the checkbox on item rows
- Or click the header checkbox to select all visible items
- The bulk action bar appears at the bottom
Bulk Actions
When items are selected, you can:

| Add Tag | Apply a tag to all selected items |
| Remove Tag | Remove a tag from selected items |
| Change Status | Publish, unpublish, or archive |
| Delete | Remove all selected items |
Item Display
On Your Public Menu
Diners see:
- Item name
- Description (if provided)
- Price (if provided)
- Allergen badges
- Photo (if uploaded)
Allergen Indicators
Items display allergen information as:
- Red badges for confirmed allergens
- “Contains: Milk, Wheat, Eggs” text listing
- Filter compatibility when diners filter by allergen
Tips for Great Menu Items
- Write clear descriptions - Help diners understand what they’re ordering
- Include all ingredients - Better ingredient data means better allergen accuracy
- Use consistent pricing - Always include price or never include it
- Keep items updated - Remove seasonal items or mark them draft
- Add photos - Visual items get more engagement
